The BC coast is a hotspot for marine mammals with many species of whales, dolphins and porpoise using these waterways.
Most frequently seen in this region are orca (also known as killer whales), humpback whales and Pacific white-sided dolphins. But it’s also possible to see gray whales and porpoises, as well as seals and sea lions.
As our oceans slowly recover from decades of habitat destruction, overfishing, pollution and hunting, we’re starting to see more marine mammals returning to our waters, including some rarer species such as fin whales, right whales and sei whales.
